The National Council competence concerning European Affairs was vested with the Committee on European Affairs (CEA). CEA scrutinizes every new legislative proposal of the Commission (in some cases even some non-legislative proposals). In case CEA considers some proposal as a particularly important for the SR, it demands specialized committee for its opinion on it. The position of CEA is binding for a representative of the government of the SR acting in the Council of the EU.
