Referred to the Senate Committee on Health, with opinions solicited from the European Union Policies Committee, the Industry Committee and the Foreign Affairs and Emigration Committee.
On 16 Jaunary 2013 the Industry Committee issued a favourable opinion on the correct identification of the legal basis and subsidiarity and proportionality compliance, with qualifications on its merits.
On 30 January 2013 the Committee on European Union Policies issued an opinion against the measure.
On 30 January 2013, the Health Committee considered the proposal and issued a resolution including a reasoned opinion lamenting a violation of the subsidiarity and proportionality principles. The resolution incorporates the opinion(s) issued by the EU Policies Committee and the Industry Committee.
